Discussed report of regulator’s meeting held September 17-18, 1999. Will complete report of meeting and disseminate to attendees during the week following meeting (to be distributed by Joe Rallo via e-mail).

For compilation of competencies, all jurisdictions have been requested to forward materials describing competencies required for registration, as well as courses and supervised experience required for registration. A reminder will be forwarded by J. Rallo via e-mail. Further reminders will be sent on October 1 by L. Breault, and every few days after. L. Breault will contact Henry Edwards and request his assistance in compilation, and distillation/synthesis of these materials. If Henry Edwards is unable to do it, then Mario Poirier will be contacted. Materials will be requested by October 15, for synthesis and review to be completed by November 15. Budget for this is estimated to be $3,000 to $4,000, and L. Breault will be given latitude to negotiate final reasonable fee with reviewer.

Decision to use the services of Louise Bourgault for next regulators meeting in March, 2000.

Materials have been requested from Brendan Walsh to assist in drafting the final agreement (examples of other agreements, etc.).

Consultation with stakeholders was discussed. L. Breault will contact and inform them of meetings and process, invite comments, and inform them that they will be sent materials for their feedback as they are developed. The stakeholders would include:

Canadian Council of Professional Psychology Programs (CCPPP)
Canadian Council of Departments of Psychology (CCDP)
Canadian Association of School Psychologists (CASP)
CPA Sections (notified by CPA)
CPAP (notified by Joe Rallo)

Information about the ongoing AIT discussions will also be provided to:

ASPPB (L. Breault)
APA (J. Rallo)

Next meeting will be November 27, 28, 1999, (arrive Friday, November 26), in Ottawa at the Minto Suites Hotel. Meetings will end by late afternoon.

Further discussions of some members of the PSWAIT group took place on September 20, 1999 during the preparation of the report on the regulator’s meeting.

The following comments/notes refer to some areas in the Report on the Regulator’s meeting that require further clarification, and are included here for further discussion/reference.

Note 1: As there is currently no accreditation process in Canada for post-doctoral internship, PSWAIT was unclear about the intent of this item, under the "Fast Track" section (Part III) of the Report, which reads:

Completion of an accredited post-doctoral internship in psychology

Note 2: Another possible mechanism for a "fast track" reads as follows:

Where the registration requirements in the home jurisdiction equal to or exceed the registration requirements in the receiving jurisdiction.

It was not clear whether the latter is one mechanism for fast-track, or, whether this requirement must be met in all circumstances for fast track

Note 3: It was suggested that listing in the Canadian Register may be another possible fast-track mechanism. As this was not suggested at the Regulator’s meeting, it was not included in the report. However, this could be investigated further as a potential fast-track mechanism.
Note 4: Further discussion regarding the history of disciplinary actions against an individual will be required.
