Criminal Justice Psychology

MEMBERSHIP

In the last two years, membership to the Criminal Justice Section of CPA has increased by over 50% and we currently have over 320 members. Several membership benefits exist, namely in the receipt of information on issues pertinent to the criminal justice field. For example, we regularly disseminate e-mails to inform you of continuing education and employment opportunities, as well as other important news in the field.  In addition, you will receive our semi-annual electronic publication, Crime Scene, featuring regular columns on topics related to forensic and correctional psychology, research briefs, reviews, and much more.

The annual cost of membership to the Section is $20. However, a reduced rate of only $5 is offered to full-time students!
Membership fees support awards and prizes, as well as the section’s activities connected to the CPA annual convention (e.g., travel costs for invited speakers, hospitality, social events).

  • If you are currently a member of CPA and wish to join the Criminal Justice Section, please contact Sylvia Spallin of CPA by e-mail (membership@cpa.ca) or send correspondence to: Sylvia Spallin, Canadian Psychological Association, 141 Laurier Avenue West, Suite 702, Ottawa, ON, K1P 5J3.
  • If you are not currently a member of CPA, and wish to become a CPA member as well as a member of the Criminal Justice Section, please contact Sylvia Spallin of CPA by e-mail (membership@cpa.ca) or send correspondence to: Sylvia Spallin, Canadian Psychological Association, 141 Laurier Avenue West, Suite 702, Ottawa, ON, K1P 5J3. Please note that if you join the Section through CPA, GST and PST may be added to the fee in some provinces.
  • You can still become a member of the Criminal Justice Section even if you are not currently a member of CPA and do not wish to become a member of CPA at this time. If this is the case, please send a $20 cheque ($5 for full-time students) made payable to CPA Section Criminal Justice Psychology, and mail to R. Karl Hanson, Secretary Treasurer CPA-SCJP, Corrections Research, Public Safety Canada, 340 Laurier Avenue West, 10th Floor, Ottawa, ON, K1A 0P8.

On behalf of the Criminal Justice Section, we look forward to your support and participation. For further information about membership, please contact our membership coordinator, Natalie Jones, at: natalie_carleton@hotmail.com.
