Being a graduate student can be an isolating experience. Students can easily get caught up in their own ‘research bubble’ and keeping on top of what other students are doing can be pushed aside. To me the Canadian Psychological Association represents the ability to stay connected with other psychology students across the country. Through newsletters, listservs and the annual convention, CPA provides the opportunity to know what research and advancements are occurring in diverse psychology programs in Canada and to share common experiences and successes with other students. Despite attending graduate school in different parts of Canada, CPA provides a common identity for students and allows us to benefit and learn from each other.
