An Advocacy Alert is created for advocacy issues of relevance to psychological associations across Canada. An issue briefing note, backgrounder and/or or a mock (or real) press release are created to draw associations’ attention to an advocacy issue which they can take advantage of (pro-actively or reactively) in their jurisdiction. The briefing note explains the relevance of the issue, points out advocacy opportunities and explains the steps that can be taken in order to promote their associations’ interests. Frequently there are Advocacy Opportunities - upcoming events which may be of interest to some or all psychological associations. There are no briefing notes or backgrounders created for these opportunities; rather, the opportunity is identified and an association can use the information as part of their ongoing advocacy strategy. |
