Message from CPA's President, 2013-2014: Dr. Wolfgang Linden
Hello fellow CPA members and other convention attendees! I think this is a great time to put (probably not so fond) memories of an exceptional nasty winter behind us and make plans for the warmer season. I want to encourage you all to attend the upcoming 75th annual CPA Convention to be held in Vancouver June 5-7, 2014. This year's events will include an inspiring key note by our Honorary President, Bob Rae, who is a strong supporter of our profession and passionate about improving access of Canadians to psychological services. In addition two very prominent psychologists will provide Keynote addresses: Dr. Scott Lilienfeld who is well known as a critical thinker in Clinical Psychology will speak on the challenges of keeping research and practice integrated and mutually informing. On the next day, renowned Dr. Susan Michie will lay out models and strategies to change behavior in everyday contexts.
With additional section-nominated keynotes we can be assured that the convention will also offer up hundreds of posters, symposia and workshops that cover a broad range of developments and topics in the science, practice and education of psychology. Of course, much of the convention’s objective is about networking, with formal and informal events in support.
Conventions are a time for the community of Canadian psychologists to come together to share knowledge, challenge each other's thinking and inspire great new work. It is also a time to renew old friendships and make new and productive Canadian psychology connections.
So join us for our milestone 75th Convention 2014 on the beautiful West Coast! Don't forget about the social events; especially the Presidential Reception on Thursday evening and the main social event on Friday. I look forward to seeing you in Quebec! www.cpa.ca/convention
