Message from CPA's President, 2011-2012: Dr. David Dozois

Greetings from CPA!  I want to personally invite you to attend the 73rd annual CPA convention, held this year in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 14th through 16th.  This year's events will include hundreds of posters, symposia and workshops that cover a broad range of developments and topics in the science, practice and education of psychology.  Keynote speakers include the 2012 Honorary Presidential Address from Dr. David M. Clark who will speak about the science, practice and economics of effective psychological treatments, Dr. Jeffrey Mogil on pain, social communication, empathy and prosocial behaviour, Dr. Rosemary Tannock on ADHD, Dr. Raymond Klein on attention, Dr. Nnamdi pole on ethnocultural diversity, Dr. Jerrold Post on terrorist psychology, and Dr. Pierre Ritchie on models of collaborative health care.

Conventions are a time for practitioners, scientists and students to come together as a discipline - to learn from each other and expand our thinking. They provide an opportunity to learn what matters to the discipline and profession and understand what it is about our discipline and profession that matters to stakeholders in science and practice.  CPA is Canada's national home for psychology - it is by investing together that we can ensure that what we know, what we study, what we practice and what we teach can contribute to the health and welfare of Canadians.

So join us for Convention 2012!  Don't forget about the social events; especially the Presidential Reception on Thursday evening and the Lobsterfest on Friday. Please do take an opportunity to say hello and introduce yourself to me. I look forward to seeing you in Halifax! www.cpa.ca/convention

Best wishes,
David Dozois Ph.D.
