In 2012, CPA is continuing its program designed to honour Canadian high school students who have completed and submitted a psychology-relevant project to their respective high school science fairs.

CPA is inviting electronic submissions from high school students across Canada. These submissions will be judged by a jury of CPA member psychologists. We will invite up to three finalists to come to the CPA Convention (Halifax, Nova Scotia, June 14th-16th, 2012) to present their work and participate in the convention.

Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner(s)-up. Click here for rules and deadlines

Note: Relatives of employees and officers of the Canadian Psychological Association are not eligible to apply.

2012 Convention Graduate Student Fair

In response to feedback received at Convention 2011, in 2012 CPA will once again host a Graduate Student Fair to take place at the 73nd annual convention in Halifax.

This year, however, the Graduate Student Fair will not feature a didactic session but will instead be an informal meet and greet for students and graduate programs across the country.  It will be exhibitor style where students can walk from table to table to talk with representatives of graduate programs.

All graduate programs are invited to reserve a table at the fair where they can display brochures and other information about their programs.  We ask that participating programs have a *representative present to “person” their tables and be available to talk to prospective students throughout the entire two hour session. There is no charge to reserve a table and snacks will be provided courtesy of CPA. *Representative must be a paid convention delegate.

Up to half of CPA convention delegates are students. The convention is a terrific venue for graduate programs to reach out to prospective graduate students.  To help make sure that the event is a success and one we can repeat, we want to make sure that graduate programs and undergraduate students are informed about it!

Accordingly, we are hoping that you will let your undergraduate students know about this opportunity to meet faculty from graduate psychology programs across the country.  Please let them know that the convention early registration rate, available up to May 14, 2012 is:

$50.00 + HST for CPA Student Affiliate
$185.00 + HST for Student non-member

We have had over 1,700 conference submissions so they can expect a very informative and dynamic convention experience.

To reserve a table please submit a "Graduate Fair Participation Form" - Download here.
