Jim Cheston, Ph.D., C. Psych

Ontario Correctional Institute, Brampton, ON

Jim is the Chief Psychologist at the Ontario Correctional Institute, a provincial correctional treatment facility for adult male incarcerates. He previously worked as a staff psychologist, first at the Northern Treatment Centre (now the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre) in Sault Ste. Marie from 1991 to 1993, and then at the Ontario Correctional Institute from 1993 to 2001. From 1999 to 2008 Dr. Cheston conducted Psychological Risk Assessments of federal incarcerates for the National Parole Board and counselling federal parolees in the community, under contract to Correctional Service Canada.

Nina Fusco, Ph.D., C. Psych.

Calian Health

Nina is currently the Chief Psychologist for Calian Health. She has previously worked for correctional services in Ontario, as a Forensic Psychologist for the Forensic Psychiatric Services Commission in British Columbia and at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, and most recently as a Staff Psychologist for the Ontario Provincial Police. She also maintains a private practice in clinical and forensic psychology.

Joe Camilleri, Ph.D.

Westfield State University, Westfield, MA

Joe is a Professor of Psychology at Westfield State University in Massachusetts. His research involves studying the etiology of interpersonal conflict, particularly sexual conflict in committed relationships. He also has interests in program development and evaluation to address partner rape, psychopathy, and domestic violence. Joseph also currently serves on the Steering Committee for the North American Correctional and Criminal Justice Psychology Conference, was the CJPS student representative from 2002 to 2007, and was Chair of CPA’s Section for Students from 2004 to 2005.

Eleanor Gittens, Ph.D.

Georgian College, Orillia, ON

Eleanor is a professor in Bachelors of Human Services Police Studies Degree Program. She is currently serving as the Chair of the College’s Research Ethics Board. Eleanor also spearheads a student-based research team that conducts research projects with various community partners. She has carried out research on the spatial behaviour of offenders, community policing, criminal careers, violence and violent offenders.

Natalie Jones, Ph.D.

Natalie is currently a Senior Program Evaluation Officer with SSHRC and Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University. Through her work in academia, government, and the private sector, Natalie has managed justice-related projects including program evaluations and the development and validation of risk assessment tools. Her primary research interests lie in strengths-based and gender-informed risk assessment and intervention strategies for justice-involved populations.

David Hill, Psy.D., C. Psych.

Clinical Psychologist & Assistant Professor, University of Manitoba

David is a Psychologist in Manitoba’s forensic mental health system and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Manitoba. His professional work includes forensic evaluations, research, advocacy and service-related activities. His research has focused on forensic psychological assessment, malingering, and the trajectories of forensic mental health patients in Canada. He also maintains a private practice in criminal and civil forensic psychology.

Sebastian Baglole, M.A.

Ph.D. Student, Forensic Psychology, Carleton University

Sebastian is a Ph.D. Candidate in Forensic Psychology at Carleton University. He studies strengths, psychopathy, and psychosis in offending and forensic-psychiatric patient populations. Beyond academic pursuits, Sebastian has research work experience with the University of British Columbia Department of Psychiatry (2014-2017), as well as Research and Mental Health Branches of the Correctional Service of Canada (2017-2019).

Pamela Yates, PhD, RPsych

Adjunct Professor, Saint Mary’s University Psychology Department

Pamela completed her Ph.D. in forensic psychology in 1996. Formerly with the Correctional Service of Canada, she is presently in private practice. She has worked extensively in correctional and forensic settings as a clinician, researcher, program developer, program evaluator, and trainer. She specializes in evidence-based practice in assessment and treatment, treatment effectiveness, and risk assessment, and has published widely on these subjects.

Alisha Salerno

York University, Toronto, ON

Alisha is currently completing her Ph.D. at York University. Her research interests include the forensic implications of developmental disability, sexual assault and extra-legal factors that influence legal decision-making. Her program of research focuses on police response to developmental disability. Alisha is also the co-founder of Reach Toronto, a not-for-profit organization for youth and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Christopher J. Lively, M.Sc., Ph.D.

St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS

Christopher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at St. Francis Xavier University. His research interests include comprehension of legal rights, investigative interviewing, alibis, and eyewitness memory. He previously served as an Associate Editor for Mind Pad, and as a Deputy Journal Editor for Investigative Interviewing: Research and Practice. Prior to starting his academic work, Chris worked for the Correctional Service of Canada.

Dr. Hannah Stewart, Ph.D., R.Psych.

East Coast Forensic Hospital, Dartmouth, NS

Hannah is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who received her PhD from the University of New Brunswick. She currently works with forensic psychiatric patients at Nova Scotia Health’s East Coast Forensic Hospital. Her professional interests have centered around working with marginalized, underserved, and stigmatized members of society. Her research has examined issues of forensic mental health, high risk criminal offenders, paraphilias and sexual offending, psychopathy, processes of change, and forensic rehabilitation.
