Most of the materials that comprise the Canadian Psychological Association fonds are open - that is, they are available for consultation. There are some materials however, that are restricted. What follows is a listing of all the volumes that comprise the Canadian Psychological Association fonds and their access conditions based on information made available by Library and Archives Canada (LAC).
Textual records:
Volumes 1 - 23, 30 - 79: Open
Volumes 24 -27: Restricted. Access to the transcripts of interviews is restricted to researchers who have written permission from the CPA Historian.
Volumes 28 - 29: Restricted. Access to Volume 28, File 29 is restricted until 2018. Restricted. Access to Volume 29, File 2 is to be reviewed in the near future.
Sound recordings:
Access to copies of the audio tapes and cassettes of interviews is restricted to researchers who have written permission from the CPA Historian.
Write a letter
If you wish access to the textual records and/or audio recordings of the interviews, you must write to the CPA Historian and indicate the following information:
- university affiliation (if any)
- hospital affiliation (if any)
- the nature of your research
- the materials you wish to consult
- for textual records: note the volume(s) and file(s) you wish to see.
- for sound recordings: note which interview you wish to hear (see pp. 31-36 of the Finding Aid for a listing of names)
- when you plan to work at LAC
- contact information - e-mail address, telephone number(s), mailing address.
- LAC user card number

For textual records please allow 14 - 21 days for processing. For sound recordings please allow 6 - 8 weeks for processing.
