In 2000, the Board began discussing the possibility of including a Student Affiliate seat to the CPA Board. There were several reasons for adding a student to the Board which included ensuring the student perspective is present during Board deliberations, providing a leadership/governance mentoring experience for student leaders in psychology, developing a closer and more effective relationship between the Association and students on campus through the CPA Campus Representatives, etc..

 

Discussions between the Board and the CPA Student Section's Executive occurred and resulted in an agreement to bring forward to the membership during the June 2006 Annual General Meeting a proposal for a By-law change that would add a student to the CPA Board of Directors.  The proposed amendment  was approved unanimously.
